Michael Lawrence Hamlar, President & CEO
Mike is a product of the Roanoke County Public School System. He received his B.A. from Wake Forest University where he was a Seattle Bowl champion for the Demon Deacons. He later graduated from Mortuary School at John Tyler Community College after deciding to take partial ownership of his family's business (Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home) after his father and great uncle's untimely death. Two years after receiving his funeral license as a director, he chose to further his education at Liberty University where he received his M.B.A. (Master's in Business Administration). He is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Business Administration.
Mike is an owner at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home and is highly involved in community activities and organizations. He serves on numerous boards such as CHIP (Child Health Improvement Partnership), Family Services of Roanoke and the West End Center. He also serves as President of the Wake Forest University Roanoke/Lynchburg Alumni chapter. Mike is also an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Roaonke and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He believes in giving back to the community and supporting local youth. He serves on the Legislative Advocacy Committee with the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce, and he is a youth leader at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Mike is married to Katina Casey Hamlar and has one daughter, Simone.
